About

My name is Jamie Harper, and I am the founder of Black Box Circuits Ltd, providing specialist electronic and PCB design services.

From an early age, I have been driven by a strong interest in electronics and a desire to understand how complex systems work. This interest began during high school, where studying Systems and Control first introduced me to electronic design and control systems, and has continued to develop throughout my career.

I went on to study Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Coleg Llandrillo, achieving a BTEC National Diploma, and during this time placed 2nd in the UK in the WorldSkills competition. I later completed an MEng in Electronic Engineering at Bangor University.

Following university, I began my career in a high-reliability engineering environment, working within the defence sector. Over the course of 10 years, I progressed to Senior Electronic Engineer, gaining extensive experience across the full product lifecycle—from initial concept and specification through to production support.

During this time, I have led the electronic design of multiple successful products, where performance, reliability, and compliance to rigorous standards were critical. My role has covered all aspects of development, including hardware design, embedded software, PCB layout, and design for manufacture, ensuring robust and production-ready solutions.

Today, through Black Box Circuits Ltd, I bring that same level of engineering discipline and attention to detail to new projects, delivering reliable, high-quality electronic design solutions from concept through to manufacture.

I collaborate closely with clients to solve complex engineering challenges and deliver robust, production-ready designs.
